Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus, has an immediate opening for a student-centered and
innovative Academic Adviser 2 to join the Student Success Center team. The adviser will follow standard principles and
systems while performing the duties of the position and will typically work under direct supervision while performing duties using
established procedures.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Providing one-on-one and group academic advising to assigned students,
    assisting students in navigating University policies, procedures
  • Program curriculum requirements, assisting with student degree
    progress, supporting students through the exploratory process, and maintaining confidential student records
  • Preparing,
    coordinating, and presenting Student Success Center (SSC) workshops and programs that promote academic success for undergraduate
  • Assisting in the planning and implementation of New Student Orientation (NSO)
  • Organizing
    orientation materials, presenting academic information to students and families, serving as a campus representative on the University
    orientation team, and performing event logistics and preparation
  • Collaborating with colleagues in the Division of
    Undergraduate Studies, throughout the campus, and across Penn State as needed to further student success goals
  • Demonstrating a
    commitment to building an inclusive and equitable campus community
  • Establishing and developing ongoing special advising for
    students facing academic difficulty
  • Contributing to advising committees/working groups for student success, diversity and
    inclusion, assessment and evaluation, academic policies, and/or staff development
  • Providing support to faculty advisers
    regarding university policies and procedures
  • Assisting in maintaining an up-to-date digital presence for the Student Success
    Center including web pages and social media accounts
  • Solving problems within the current ethical and professional standards of
    the University and by relevant professional organizations (e.g., NACE & NACADA)

Typical Education:

This position typically requires a Master’s degree or higher plus one year of related
experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

clearances must be successfully completed for this position:

Operation of a motor vehicle as part of the position’s duties and a
valid driver’s license is required. Successful completion of a motor vehicle records check, in addition to standard background checks, is
also required, as well as the following: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI)
Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.

Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus is one of more than 20 Penn State campuses
state-wide. It is a student-centered campus of approximately 650 students; about 20% are adult learners. Multiple baccalaureate and
associate degrees are offered as well as the coursework for the first two years of more than 160 Penn State baccalaureate majors. Students
and faculty at Penn State Fayette have all the resources of a major research university at their disposal, but in a small college atmosphere
with a low student/faculty ratio that facilitates mentorship and individualized attention.
