Academic Advisor
The Academic Advisor shall be responsible to the Director of Admissions/Counselor. Duties and responsibilities shall be, but not
limited to, the following: 1) Provide career, academic, and transfer advice to individuals and groups of students; 2) Coordinate recruitment
activities and programs with high schools, local businesses, government agencies, and organizations; 3) Travel to meet recruiting needs of
the College; 4) Meet with prospective students in both individual and group settings; 5) Assist in the development of recruiting materials
and develops recruitment strategies to include a schedule of events to market college programs; 6) Coordinate new student orientation
activities; 7) Research and gather information on other colleges and universities in order to assist students in transfer opportunity
discussions; 8) Co-sponsor the Student Ambassadors program; 9) Serve on campus committees as assigned; 10) Perform other duties as assigned
or required; and 11) Nothing contained herein shall limit the President in assigning the employee to any of the various college activities
for which he/she would be qualified in order to meet the needs of New Mexico Junior College.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree required. Experience in higher education student services preferred. Must possess or have the ability to obtain a
valid New Mexico or Texas driver’s license. Knowledge of or strong interest in developing academic and/or career counseling techniques.
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other department staff, faculty, students and the public. Ability
to work effectively as a member of a team.
