Job Description

This job posting will be used to
recruit three (3) Academic Advisors.

The Academic Advisor will provide advising to newly admitted students as well as
current undergraduate students for Idaho State University. This individual will actively participate in all academic advisor activities and
responsibilities, and serve as a liaison to the college and to the students and duties that have been assigned. The academic advisor will
provide personalized and proactive assistance to students as they make progress toward their educational goals. Additionally, they will work
closely with professors, fellow advisors, their immediate supervisor, and university administrators to provide accurate and helpful
information. Key responsibilities include: 

  • Schedule and meet regularly with all assigned
    advisees
  • Assist advisees in course registration and monitor academic progress
  • Manage student
    cases generated by the ISU Navigate early alert platform
  • Effectively communicate institutional standards for
    graduation
  • Connect students with campus resources as necessary
  • Work within the current academic
    advising initiatives to provide a coordinated, proactive advising environment for our undergraduate students
  • Serve on
    university committees as requested
  • Communicate effectively with advising entities, college leadership, and key
    departments across campus
  • Other duties as assigned by the Associate Director of Advising or Executive Director of
    Academic Advising and Assessment

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
  • Experience in academic advising—high school or a
    post-secondary education environment
  • Knowledge of higher education retention issues as well as academic improvement
    strategies for students experiencing academic difficulty

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two or more years of academic advising experience in a post-secondary education environment
  • Experience
    utilizing a student success platform such as ISU Navigate
