The Opportunity

This position is responsible for coordinating and ensuring the facilitation of orientation to support the transition of new students into the college and guide the understanding of university policies, procedures and college curriculum requirements. Specialized advising is required and duties include supporting the college to meet university metric goals for engagement, retention, persistence, progression and graduation. Performs and assist with all registration activity and maintenance of accurate student files. Interprets academic requirements and assists students in understanding program/curriculum requirements and provide assistance with course selection. This role also supports the college’s First Time in College (FTIC) I Will Legacy initiative to actively engage and retain freshman students.

Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of the Orientation Coordinator role include ensuring the coordination of new student orientation for incoming freshman and transfer students transitioning into the university/college. Providing academic guidance and support, reviewing academic transfer course work, creating plans of study and assisting students to understand curriculum requirements and university policies and procedures. This role also supports the college’s I WILL Legacy initiative, created to foster engagement and retention of our first time in college (FTIC) student population. It is also responsible for coordinating faculty orientation support, open houses and recruitment events.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in Higher Education Academic Advising with a strong focus on Orientation.
