Summary of Position

The Academic Advisor will report to the
Advising Manager. This position is responsible for advising students throughout the entire student life-cycle; inquiry through graduation,
and will provide support, curricular and career guidance, as well as customer relations management. This position will also be responsible
for participating on institutional committees and project management as needed.

Other minimum qualifications

Master’s degree and one year’ experience, or Bachelor’s degree and three years’
experience

Additional Preferred Qualifications

1-3 years advising or counseling
experience.
Leadership,management, strong communication and interpersonal skills

Duty/Responsibility

Academic Advising 

  • Advises student through all
    stages of the student lifecycle on admissions, enrollment, academic program policies, and degree completion planning. 
  • Acts as a
    Program Specialist within specific Areas of Interest and degrees. 
  • Applies Appreciative Advising theory to coach students in
    identifying their strengths, academic and career interests, and guides students in achieving their set goals. 
  • Works in
    collaboration with advising team at large as well as external departments-Student Accounts, Financial Aid, Registrar’s Office, Career
    Services, Student Affairs, IT- and refers students as necessary. 
  • Monitors the academic progress and enrollment of all students
    assigned in caseload and preforms retention tasks according to advising outreach calendar. 
  • Participates in interdepartmental
    training(s) to continuously gain more in-depth curriculum knowledge, increase advisor and faculty collaboration, and provide continued
    exposure to career-specific requirements and trends. 
  • Provides information on transfer-ability of college-level learning and
    prior learning opportunities and process.

Duty/Responsibility

Customer Relations Management
and Technology Platform Usage 

  • Engages in daily usage of college wide technology platforms to access student data: Main database
    (Salesforce), email client (Outlook), system of record database (BANNER), degree evaluation software (GPS), texting platform (Mongoose),
    time reporting (Kronos), chat (Live Chat) and reporting platforms (APEX). 
  • Follows standard operating procedures for documenting
    student outreach and activities in Salesforce.

Duty/Responsibility

Institutional Committees,
Project Management, and Outreach Events 

  • Attend outreach events to represent advising as needed. 
  • Actively collaborate
    and contribute to interdepartmental project work and serve on cross-departmental committees as needed.
