Academic Coach II
(School for Professional Studies)

Job Summary                   

As a member of the SPS enrollment and
retention management team, the academic coach II serves as a single point of contact to assist international graduate students enrolled in
graduate on-campus and online programs and uses predictive analytics to positively impact student retention and completion rates.
Additionally, the academic coach II will work with admissions specialists and program directors to onboard and orient new students and
support academic success through graduation. The academic coach II will have the opportunity to create on-campus student experiences for new
students as defined by the associate dean of enrollment management.

Personal Characteristics

  • In-depth knowledge of University policies and procedures, academic requirements, campus
    resources, student life and support services;
  • Knowledge of academic cycle and ability to work flexible schedule;
  • Working
    knowledge of personal computer operations;
  • Advising/coaching/counseling skills;
  • Interpersonal/human relations
  • Supervisory skills;
  • Ability to encourage and empower students to make their own decisions;
  • Ability to act as
    an advocate for the student and the University;
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality


Master’s degree; supplemented with three (3) years of related work experience.


  • Serve as the ‘one stop shop’ for international graduate students; ensure they are able to
    access support resources; help students identify resources.  
  • Initiate process improvements to better serve students.
  • Use
    predictive analytics to identify at risk students; proactively intervene to support student retention; work with program directors and
  • Serves as a SPS point person for at least one initiative or committee to further growth; shares and implements, as needed,
    with the enrollment management team.
  • Participates in professional development opportunities, creates student engagement activities,
    and enhances the school’s relationship with alumni.
  • Develop and implement activities that build community among graduate students
    and support successful transition to social life as a graduate student in St. Louis.

Vaccine Protocol
