The Academic Success Center and the Center for Advising and Student Achievement are seeking
applicants for the position of Academic Success Advisor. The Academic Success Advisor will primarily develop and facilitate programs that
promote academic success, especially targeting underserved student populations. They will advise exploring students, as well as those on
probation. They will facilitate programs and small group discussions with underserved populations, as well as work one-on-one with students
who have been referred for additional assistance with career assessment discussions, academic planning, time management and study
strategies. The Academic Success Advisor will assist with academic advising at critical times of the semester.


  • Facilitate study strategy presentations and other academic success
  • Monitor and analyze student retention,
    student academic progress, and other related data
  • Advise students in addressing educational issues, such as course and
    major selection, study and behavior habits, college adjustment/transition, career exploration, and class scheduling and
  • Through the Academic Success Center,
    assist students in identifying personal, social, and behavioral circumstances affecting their success
  • Provide individual academic assistance to students needing
  • Coordinate intervention meetings and
    Academic Plans for students on academic probation and Satisfactory Academic Progress
  • Through the Academic and Career Exploration Program, evaluate students’
    individual abilities, interests, and personality characteristics using tests, records, interviews, or professional sources and prepare
    students for subsequent educational experiences and learning opportunities
  • Teach a section of the New Student Experience course
  • Collaborate with and serve as a liaison with key campus
    personnel and offices and external constituents
  • Supervise student employees, as necessary


  • Bachelor’s
    degree required
  • Three-five years of direct experience
    working with secondary or post-secondary students. Experience with student data management systems and knowledge of student learning
