Position Description:
Reporting to the Associate Dean of Educator Preparation, provides leadership to and oversees the College of Education (COE) Academic Advising and Teacher Education Success office; develops, implements, and assesses academic advising and student success goals; supervises and evaluates professional advising staff; strengthens, directs and evaluates a comprehensive and transformative academic advising program; collaborates with university departments to enhance undergraduate recruitment, retention, and student success initiatives; develops knowledge and expertise about undergraduate programs and majors in COE (Athletic Training, Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Recreation, Tourism and Nonprofit Leadership, Middle Level Education, Movement & Exercise Science, and Public Health); supports a comprehensive, strategic enrollment management plan in the College and University; and performs other duties as assigned.
Education Requirements:
Master’s degree in college student personnel or related field required.
Required Qualifications:
At least five years of experience in the education profession with demonstrated success in advising or related student success initiatives and leadership experience; demonstrated commitment to diversity and experience working with underserved populations; excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills; successful experience in developing productive working relationships with persons at all organizational levels and external constituencies; ability to maintain confidentiality and contribute to fostering a harmonious team environment; and computer proficiency required.
Desirable Qualifications:
A doctorate or a terminal degree in related field, experience in higher education academic advising and familiarity with the NACADA framework and its core competencies preferred.
