Director of Student Services
The Director of Student Services’ primary function is to promote policies and practices that improve student experiences with the
services designed to support them. This position will liaise between the offices in Highbaugh Hall’s Student Services Center (Student
Accounts, Financial Planning Office, Registrar’s Office, and Office of Academic Success). The Director will work with employees of
those offices to problem-solve interdepartmental student issues, to improve the student experience through student-service-based
initiatives, and to ensure all students receive appropriate support from matriculation through graduation. The Director of Student Services
works alongside five academic staff members.

ESSENTIAL
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
General
- Attend the following meetings/committees: Faculty
Meeting, Academic Council, and Academics/Athletics Policy Committee - Assist with daily concerns related to student attendance or
personal concerns - Serve as the academic point of contact for students on probation
- Oversee tutoring program, including
training of peer tutors and reporting of tutoring hours
Retention
- Maintain and report
exit interview data
o Develop short- and long-term plans for improving academic success at Georgetown College
o
Oversee Academic Progress Checks and follow-ups
o Oversee all attendance verifications and consolidate information prior to annual
census date
o Oversee the Academic Centered Experience (ACE) Program
o Work
with the Student Accounts and Financial Aid offices to help students with financial aid or scholarship concerns
SUPERVISORY
RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises student workers in the office of Academic Success and in Tutoring. Carries out supervisory
responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and
training student workers.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Education and / or Experience
– Master’s degree (M. A.) or equivalent from a four-year college; or three to five years related experience and/or
training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. A master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, College Student
Personnel, Counseling or other areas relevant to student development is preferred. - Communication / Language
– Requires strong oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to read and interpret
documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and
correspondence. Ability to work well with faculty and staff. Attention to details and deadlines. Creativity in project planning,
flexibility. - Reasoning — Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in
written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. - Certificates, Licenses, Registrations — None required
- Computer Literacy / General Office Equipment
– Intermediate to expert level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel).
