Graduate Education EOF – Bridge to The Doctorate Graduate Student Advisor

The Division of Diversity, Inclusion, and Community Engagement (DICE) will be hosting a 5-day virtual workshop for EOF rising juniors and seniors to explore the pathway to obtaining a doctoral degree August 8 – 12, 2022. The workshop aims to expose these students to the graduate application process – crafting personal statements, preparing for standardized tests, etc. Additionally, the workshop will help students navigate the many pathways to a doctorate including accelerated master’s degree programs, taking time off between undergraduate and graduate studies, and going straight through postsecondary schooling.

A primary focus of the workshop will be to provide rising juniors and seniors with the chance to interact with current Rutgers University, New Brunswick doctoral students. We are looking to identify a team of multi-disciplinary graduate student advisors to assist us in delivering the workshop. Advisors should have completed at least 1 year of graduate school and be in good standing with their academic department.

Advisors will be paid $2,000 to

  • Develop workshop content (30 hours) in collaboration with DICE staff prior to virtual workshop that addresses the following
  • Life after the bachelor’s degree
  • Graduate school application process
  • Transition between undergraduate and graduate school
  • Life as a graduate student
  • Deliver workshop content (30 hours) via one-on-one and group mentoring sessions with EOF scholars, August 8 – 12, 2022.
