South Dakota State University (SDSU) Office of International Affairs is offering an exciting career opportunity as an International Student Advisor. We are looking for a creative and innovative professional to join us in September 2022. This is a 12 month, full-time, benefit eligible position. This posting is to fill two International Student Advisor positions. This position is supervised by the Director of International Student and Scholars.

The International Student Advisor will support degree-seeking international students, help them maintain legal status in the United States, achieve academic success on the SDSU campus, and promote their social integration to campus and community life. This position will help maintain student records in the SEVIS database, advise the International Relations Council, support the Global Village living and learning community, and conduct activities related to international student success in office programming.
- Bachelor’s Degree completed by first day of employment;
- Minimum of three years of professional experience, of which at least 6 months of experience must have been within the field of international education;
- Ability to assume Alternative Responsible Officer (ARO) status for SDSU’s U.S. Department of State approved J-1 Exchange Visitor Program and Designated School Official (DSO) status for the F-1 student program. Pursuant to 22 CFR (Code of Federal Regulations) Part A §62.2, ARO Status requires U.S. citizenship or U.S. permanent residence status. DSO Status also requires U.S. citizenship or U.S. permanent residence status, per Department of Homeland Security regulations.

- Master’s Degree completed by first day of employment, with one year of professional experience, of which at least 6 months of experience must have been within the field of international education, which may include Graduate Assistant experience.
