Learning Specialist

Job Duties:
Duties and responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to the following:

Student Services (40%)

• Provides academic success services for ECU students.
• Provides academic coaching services through one-on-one meetings with students.
• Collaborates with other units on campus to ensure students are receiving services.
• Tracks and responds to Starfish alerts for courses served by the PASC.
• Conducts or supports delivery of student seminars.

Outreach, Recruitment, and Campus Programming (30%)

• Supports recruitment of tutors into the tutoring services program.
• Conducts regular outreach to faculty and other college staff as needed to support student success.
• Organizes periodic special events and programs for students, faculty and staff.
• Works collaboratively with PASC team.

Tutoring Services Oversight (30%)

• Maintains accurate tracking data and notes for student tutors.
• Makes recommendations to improve program offerings.
• Assists with Peer Educator training and certification processes.

Minimum Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of educational experience or a master’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution.

Organizational Unit Overview:
The Learning Specialist for Tutoring Services works within the Pirate Academic Success Center (PASC) at East Carolina University and reports to the PASC director. PASC is a centralized student learning center within Academic Affairs at ECU and provides services supporting undergraduate student success.
