Arts and Sciences Advising Services
The purpose of this position is to uphold the overall mission of Arts and Sciences Advising Services; to coordinate advisor scheduling across all departments; to support the Associate Director in the fulfillment of their responsibilities; to assist in the training, supervision, and budgeting of student worker positions, to assist the department in assessment and reporting; and to work effectively in a team environment, to serve as a resource to the campus community by answering questions on procedures, providing referrals, training new advising staff, and delivering College and University information.

Job Functions/Responsibilities:
Vol Academic Connect:
- Serve as the Arts and Sciences Advising Services Care Unit Manager for Vol Academic Connect. Acts as the point person for all questions related to the Vol Academic Connect System for advisors and staff in A&S advising, trouble shooting issues and determining which need to be passed on.
- Maintain locations and service settings for the College of Arts and Sciences care unit in Vol Academic Connect
- Create, update, and manage the availability for 30 advisors in 10 different locations. This appointment availability makes it possible for students to schedule advising appointments Online
- Monitors all Vol Academic Connect appointment availability to determine how far out students can schedules appointments and when we need to increase appointment availability to meet demand
- Manage cancellations, scheduling conflicts, and advisor absence due to illness
Required qualifications:
- Ability to utilize computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe, to create and edit documents and reports
- Customer service skills
- Effective written and oral communications skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high volume work environment while producing quality, accurate work
- Ability to serve a diverse population of students
- Ability to handle simultaneous projects, while setting and meeting deadlines
- Ability to work independently and as part of team
Preferred qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Work experience in a university environment
- Work experience with an online scheduling system, such as Navigate
- Ability to manage schedules through Outlook and Zoom
- Ability to organize and arrange complex data sets with attention to detail
- Ability to set and meet deadlines
- Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external offices
- High ability in written communication, editing, drafting documents
