Department Summary

Considered one of the leading visual arts and design schools in the nation, UNT’s College of Visual Arts and Design is home to more than 2,300 undergraduate and graduate students in NASAD and CIDA accredited programs including the BA, BFA, MA, and MFA in art education, art history, ceramics, communication design, drawing and painting, fashion design, interaction design, interdisciplinary art and design studies, interior design, metalsmithing and jewelry, new media art, photography, printmaking, sculpture, and user-experience design, with certification offered in art museum education, and a Ph.D. offered in art education. Position Overview

The College of Visual Arts and Design Department at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire a Senior Academic Advisor to join our team. Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to: *Performing academic and career advising for students and prospective students in the College of Visual Arts and Design. *Assisting with the processing of student degree plans, degree audits, and graduation applications. *Assisting with college retention program. *Organizing orientation sessions.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree and four years of experience in student affairs, student services, counseling, or professional academic advising.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong presentation, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Advanced academic advising expertise.
  • Ability to integrate and analyze information and develop reports.
  • Ability to use a variety of complex computer applications.
  • Ability to effectively manage projects and work teams.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations verbally and in writing with internal and external groups in a variety of settings.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Considerable knowledge of University policies and procedures related to functional area (or ability to rapidly assimilate).

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with occasional flexible schedule to work weekends or evenings as needed.
