The Health Sciences Division of the School of Medicine and Health Sciences is recruiting a team member to support the department of Clinical Research and Leadership (CRL). The Senior Academic Advisor will lead a team environment consistent with guiding an Academic Advisor. Primary responsibilities for this position will include:

  • Providing academic advising to students enrolled in online and hybrid programs related to program requirements. Maintain up-to-date knowledge about programs and requirements. Informs students about alternatives, limitations and possible consequences of academic decisions.
  • Audit and monitor student progress and provide counseling to support student timely program completion.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for enrolled students in support of their student experience via email, in-person, and phone calls. Create messaging for current students around registration, graduation, and academic policies to support the student experience. Maintain student advising records.
  • Provide general advising for prospective students related to program requirements, degree options. Assists students in the development of an educational plan including choosing a program of study and/or clarifying educational goals.
  • Conduct and advise transfer credit assessment for prospective students and current students. Collaborate with admissions staff as needed to ensure accurate seamless hand-off between admissions and enrollment for new students.
  • Coordinate planning and execution of student events, including but not limited to: student orientation, open house/information sessions, student development and skills sessions, and Graduation/Commencement activities.
  • Provide recommendations for continuous improvement to all services for academic advising purposes and to integrate practices and technology aimed at improving student experience.
  • Serve as a resource for junior academic advisor staff/student workers and provide guidance, training and problem resolution assistance as needed.
  • Work closely with the academic Program Directors to ensure students are provided with the communication and support necessary for successful academic experience.
  • Coordinate with Program Director leadership for process improvement projects needed to meet program goals and initiatives (accreditation, DegreeMap curriculum updates, marketing, etc.).
  • Coordinate with department leadership for process improvement projects needed to meet departmental goals and initiatives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications

Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 2 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master’s degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
