JOB SUMMARY:

Clemson University’s Dean Of Engineering & Science Department is looking for a Student Services Program Coordinator II to fulfill the following duties:

  • Advise and support undergraduate General Engineering students to aid in timely and successful degree progress.
  • Assess student needs and identify and refer students to resources.
  • Develop and implement student programs to support retention and engagement.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES:

60% – Essential – Advising and Counseling:
Advises and counsels students on course selection, registration procedures, academic progress, University policies, major selection, engagement opportunities, and personal development to help students understand expectations and requirements. Develops and maintains confidential records. Identifies student issues and refers students to other campus resources as needed. Determines if students have completed requirements to declare their intended Engineering major ensuring a smooth transition.

20% – Essential – Coordination:
Plans and organizes at least one initiative (e.g., student success programs, outreach and communication, orientation, Bridge and transfer programs, and professional development) to support retention of students. Maintains schedule, manages logistics, recruits participants for initiatives, communicates and reports program outcomes. Guides the work of other advisors and staff participating in these initiatives. Attends relevant meetings and serves as a liaison for the department.

20% – Essential – Participation in Initiatives:
Participates in departmental, College, and Universitywide initiatives related to advising and student success by providing additional staff support, knowledge, and expertise to ensure a successful program. Assists with College recruiting and engagement programming as needed.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education – Bachelor’s Degree

Work Experience – 1+ Years in Student Service Programs (ex. Academic Advising, Counseling, Academic Support Services, Disability Services, Student Affairs, etc.)

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

Education – Master’s Degree in Higher Education, Counseling, or Related Field

Work Experience – 2+ Years in Student Services with experience in Academic Advising

RESPONSIBILITIES:

JOB KNOWLEDGE
Firm Job Knowledge – Firm working knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures and ability to use in varied situations

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Acts as Lead – Acts as a Lead by guiding the work of others who perform essentially the same work.

BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITIES
No Budget Responsibilities – No fiscal responsibility for the department’s budget.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Education – Master’s Degree in Higher Education, Counseling, or Related Field

Work Experience – 1+ Years in Academic Advising

WORKING CONDITIONS:

5% – Overnight Travel

WORK SCHEDULE:

Standard Hrs: 37.5; Expected Salary Range ($ 37,800.00 – $ 50,000.00)
