Episode 5 – GOING PLATINUM with Dr. Jay Fiene, PhD

GOING PLATINUM with Dr. Jay Fiene, PhD as he discusses how he has guided many into the workforce.

Jay Fiene is the Principal Investigator for the Cal State San Bernardino – Re-Entry Initiative and the former Dean of the College of Education at Cal State San Bernardino. Prior to becoming the dean, he served as a department chair at CSUSB and WKU.  Dr. Fiene was the founding director of the doctoral programs at Western Kentucky University.

He earned his Ph.D. at the University of Missouri – Columbia, Columbia, MO. Dr. Fiene also has degrees from Southwest Missouri State University, Springfield, MO and Pittsburg State University, Pittsburg, KS.

He has served as a music teacher (both vocal and instrumental) as well as a mathematics teacher and a high school principal. As a student teacher the marching band he directed went to the 1982 World’s Fair to perform. He was the youngest secondary school principal in the U.S. at the time of his appointment. 

Dr. Fiene frequently publishes and presents on matters related to program improvement and design particularly as it relates to school leadership and preparation/induction of school leaders. Dr. Fiene enjoys most working with beginning professors and student scholars as they design their research agendas and work. He is a member of numerous professional organizations and had the pleasure of serving as President for the National Council for Professors of Educational Administration. He has received several grants and served as an evaluator for other’s grants. Dr. Fiene has been active in international travel and learning since 1974.
